Spring Break Kick Off

Well, I had every intention of updating my blog daily this week since it is my spring break. However, Monday a little cold decided to build a home inside of me! Today is the first day I have felt like getting on the computer. I checked my email, and there were 59 messages! Most of which were junk. Where does the junk come from and why do they feel the need to send it to me?! Sorry, its the cold medicine talking.

I am suffering from a little issue. I would love for you girls to help me out. Or straighten me out! There is a little boy in my church who is 6 years old and has only 1-3 months to live. The very thought of this makes my stomach hurt and feel sick. My heart hurts as well. It hurts for him, his brother and his parents. I can not image being in that situation. And being the selfish person I am I pray every night that I will never have to be in that situation. Here is my problem. The other night Daniel went on a call (he's an EMT). There was a 9 month old baby who had drowned. His mom thought it would be a great idea for him to play in the tub while she went and had sex with her boyfriend!!!!!! Who does that!!!!??? Now I ask you this: Why is a precious baby given to a mother who is so brainless that she would put her child into danger, while there is a mother who so desperately loves her child, and will loose him soon? That has been clouding my thoughts. I know God is bigger than we are, but sometimes I just struggle with situations like this. My husband said that he does not give us things bigger than we can handle. He is so right. From what I have heard about this mother at my church, she is strong and trusts the Lord fully. Honestly, I don't know if I could be that strong. Is that wrong?

Is that Darian? I have been reading his updates and praying for them! Abby is incredible! She is so strong and such a witness for the Lord! I have learned alot from her (and I haven't even met her!)
Remember that God is sovereign and loving and faithful and we don't understand why He allows certain things to happen, but that His ways are allways the best ways. This is a hard lesson that I have been learning (and will probably keep learning until eternity). And no, we are not strong enough, but He is. That is why we have to live our lives (even in the mundane everyday stuff) in His strength, not our own. I've been learning to remind myself of the truths of the Gospel every day. It has really changed my persepective on alot of things. If I remember that I am a miserable sinner who could never truly do anything good, but that I am saved by God's grace, mercy and love. Not because of anything in me, but because of who God is. Everything I have is a gift from Him and He is in charge. Remembering these truths has helped me out soooo much ecspecially this past year as I went through a miscarriage and dealing with my Grandma's cancer and my Mother in law's cancer.
Sorry, you probably didn't want a sermon! :) I guess it comes naturally from a Pastor's daughter and a Pastor's wife! :)
Next time I'm visiting my grandparents in Newberg, I want to go out to dinner or something with all you girls! I miss you!

I don't think we know how strong we can be until situations hit us. I also think it is ok to feel that you would be a mess. I think I would be a mess if my child was dying. All I know is there is a reason for ever situation even if it doesn't make sense and that God will work the good in each situation. It may take years to see it but he will

Your hubby is right. God only gives us what we can handle. But with all the good and the bad it should bring us to our knees. Sometimes we have to walk through the valley so that we can be closer to him, so he can carry us.
I have learned through all of this that I trust God. I trust that he is doing the right thing. And that this little boy is teaching us all a lesson. He is precious. Our hearts will have a hole that will need to be filled, and I pray that we all fill that hole with God. Not each other, not coffee, not food, not chocolate! But the Savior who loves us more then we can imagine or believe.

love you. Can't wait to see you soon!!!!!
