Oregon State Fair 2011

Yesterday we splurged and went to the fair. Holy cow it can be expensive and we didn't really do much. Did you know its $4.50 for a corn dog!! It felt good to get out and have some fun with the girls. Abby was so excited to see and pet the farm animals. At first she was a little nervous, but Daniel helped her warm up to them.

Then we got her face painted. She surprised us by sitting still while the artist painted her face. We thought for sure we would have to convince her some. I think she even fell asleep while he worked.

As we were walking out to see the cows again and go home she spotted the pony rides. Daniel and I saw them but thought we could get away with not doing them. Then she looked up and said, "I want to ride one!" She was so excited we couldn't resist! Again she surprised us went right on the horse. She beamed every second she was on that pony. It was well worth the money to see her happy. We had a great day as a family, and gave Abby some new experiences to remember!

Hughes Family Reunion 2011

This year we noticed many wholes in our family reunion. Many of the older generation has passed and left it to us to carry on traditions. It was kind of weird because this years reunion was smaller, but there were a ton of kids. It was like looking into the future of Hughes reunions.
Rick and Amy Olivarez
Grandma Hughes with Ruby Mae.
Jennifer and Jody (sisters, my 2nd cousins) and Uncle Steve. Steve just under went open heart surgery. He looks great and it was such a nice surprise to have him come! We are so glad he is healthy and healing quickly.
From left to right: Aunt Bev (who was married to my uncle Man), Aunt Bonnie and Aunt Annie. These two ladies are my granddad's sisters, and Uncle Man's sisters. Bev is now married to a man named Allen Vance.
Of course its my child picking out her w edgy!

The pool was a hit! You should have seen the color of the water when they were done. We think it was just from the sun screen...or we are hoping it was. LOL
Papa Lee and Abby!

The temperature was record breaking but it was a great reunion. I hope next year more people are able to come.

Gilbert House

Last week my cousin Amy treated us to the Gilbert House! The kids played so well together and had a great time. Their attention span cracked us up, because we were flying through the houses!
Our three little farmers!
How cute is this! Walking together and holding hands. I love to see this generation loving each other. It makes me excited to know our family will be close.
Michael was not into the BIG chair. I don't really blame him. I remember seeing this chair in front of a furniture store that used to be in Salem.

Thank you Amy for a great day!

First Dentist Appointment

July 14, 2011 Abby had her very first dentist appointment. She was able to play with some of the instruments and watch a movie, I am not sure she understood. She enjoyed the monkey in the movie though.

She was such a big girl through the whole thing. I was really impressed with how comfortable she felt.
Unfortunately she had 3 cavities. How embarrassing for me. We brush so well everyday. Her dad and I both had cavities growing up so it could be genetics. She went in early August and they were able to fill 2 of the cavities. We have one more to fill August 25th. I guess she did really well with the first 2, but she is not too keen on going back. I am trying to pump it up big time for her. Wish me luck!

Prayer Please

I know not many people read this so I am posting this. Daniel was fired this week! Its a long story and really don't want to rehash it again. I am just scared and angry. I am the person who thinks into the long term future. I am thinking about how we are going to make car and mortgage payments. What about Abby's birthday and the Holidays???? What about the formula and diapers we will need to buy. However my in laws just gave me a diaper shower. So praise the Lord for that. I wish I could yell, scream, punch and injure someone (not really, but kinda). I am trying my very best to be the supportive godly wife I need to be. I am just trying really hard not to curl up and cry everyday. I may be overly dramatic right now, but its how I feel. My first priority are my girls. Thank goodness they have no clue what is going on. Lord please provide a job for Daniel!! So to those of you who do read my blog, please pray for me and my family. I know God will provide. I just need to remember we are all healthy, I have a wonderful husband and 2 great girls. For better or worse.....I can do this!

Ruby's 2 week Dr. appointment

Ruby had her first Doctors appointment today. Everything went well. She slept through most of it until they poked her heel for the PKU test. Poor baby!

weight: 8lb, 4oz-- 50%
length: 20 3/4 inches-- 75% She grew over an inch in 2 weeks!! Are we going to have a tall girl?
head: 35 cm--30%

Ruby......

Eats around 2 oz every 2-3 hours
Loves to be held
Grunts all the time ( I guess I did this a lot at her age)
Makes little sounds as she sleeps
Smiles a lot when she sleeps
can lift her head when she is on your shoulder
Sleeps better on her tummy
Looks like her momma
Has her daddy's frown ( Abby has the same one)
Needs to be burped after every ounce eaten
Has the cutest cry
Only cries when she is hungry
Is a very good baby....so far!
